Where to Buy Beautiful Flowers in Luxembourg

From my Saturday morning market ritual to beautifully arranged bouquets, family-run florists and summer fields where you can pick your own flowers, these are some of my favourite places to find flowers in Luxembourg.

Fresh flowers are one of those little luxuries I will always make room for.

Sometimes I want an enormous, perfectly arranged bouquet. Sometimes I want a handful of seasonal flowers that I can arrange myself. And sometimes I need a beautiful gift that looks considerably more thoughtful than the amount of time I actually had to organise it.

Fortunately, Luxembourg has plenty of options for all three.

There are florists that have been part of their communities for generations, beautiful independent shops, market stalls and newer concepts that are rethinking what a flower shop can be.

And in summer, you can even head into a field and cut your own.

These are some of the places I love to buy flowers in Luxembourg.

Stater Maart, Luxembourg City

GO FOR: My Saturday morning flower ritual.

If I can fit it in between getting my kids to activities and everything else happening on a Saturday morning, you’ll often find me at the market at Place Guillaume II. Buying flowers here has become a little ritual of mine.

The Stater Maart takes place every Wednesday and Saturday, with stalls selling fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread, plants and, importantly, plenty of flowers.

This is where I go when I don’t necessarily want a formal bouquet. I love choosing individual stems and seasonal flowers, taking them home and putting together something myself.

There’s something particularly lovely about wandering around the market on a Saturday morning, flowers in hand, while the city slowly gets going.

And you can usually put together a really beautiful bouquet without spending a fortune.

CSL TIP: Bring a large tote. Flowers have an annoying habit of being the first thing I buy and then having to accompany me everywhere else.

WHEN TO GO: Wednesday or Saturday morning (until 2pm)

Holy Ghost Garden

GO FOR: Flowers, coffee and somewhere you’ll actually want to stay awhile.

Holy Ghost Garden isn’t really the kind of florist you rush into, buy flowers and leave. That’s part of what makes it interesting. Located just outside the very centre of Luxembourg City, the concept brings together flowers, plants, coffee, art and locally made products in one creative space.

There’s also a garden overlooking the Pétrusse valley, which gives you another very good reason not to be in a hurry. Go for flowers. Have a coffee. Browse. Sit outside if the weather cooperates.

This is less about completing an errand and more about making buying flowers part of the afternoon. And I am always in favour of turning errands into something considerably more enjoyable.

BEST FOR: Flowers + coffee + a little time to yourself.

Iris Fleurs

GO FOR: A classic florist and flowers when you suddenly realise you need them.

There are times when you want something creative and unexpected, and there are times when you simply want to know that someone is going to make you a beautiful bouquet. Iris Fleurs is one of those reliable names to know.

Located in Limpertsberg near the Glacis, they create beautiful arrangements for everything from everyday flowers to weddings and events. They also offer flower subscriptions and delivery throughout Luxembourg.

And then there’s one particularly useful feature: the flower vending machine outside the shop. Because apparently Luxembourg understands that flower emergencies exist.

It’s worth remembering for those moments when you’ve forgotten a birthday, need a hostess gift or simply decide you want flowers after the florist has closed.

BEST FOR: A proper bouquet, subscriptions and last-minute flowers.

Werding

GO FOR: Flowers, gifts and more than a century of family history.

Werding isn’t simply a flower shop. The family business was founded in 1900 and is now run by its fourth generation, making it something of a Luxembourg institution.

You’ll obviously find flowers and plants, but this is also somewhere I like when I’m looking for a gift. There are decorative objects, candles, books and accessories, so you can put together something considerably more personal than simply grabbing a bouquet on the way to someone’s house.

There’s something special about businesses that remain part of a community generation after generation, and Werding is one of them.

BEST FOR: When you need flowers but know you’re probably going to leave with something else too.

FIND IT: 126 Avenue Charlotte, Differdange

Albus Fleurs

GO FOR: Letting the florist decide.

Sometimes I know exactly what I want. Other times, I would much rather hand the decision over to someone who knows more about flowers than I do. That’s why I particularly like the surprise bouquet option at Albus Fleurs in Belair. In my experience, this always ends with an extremely beautiful bouquet and not the pressure of having to choose the right flowers.

Alongside fresh flowers, you’ll also find houseplants, outdoor plants and accessories, and you can add chocolates if you’re putting together a gift.

But I think there’s something particularly fun about not knowing exactly what your bouquet will look like until it’s finished.

BEST FOR: A beautiful bouquet without overthinking it.

FIND IT: 5 Rue Léopold Sédar Senghor, Luxembourg City

Fleurs Karblum

GO FOR: Beautiful flowers and genuinely lovely service in the south.

If you’re in the south of Luxembourg, Fleurs Karblum in Rumelange is one worth knowing. The florist has more than 30 years of history and focuses on seasonal flowers and personalised arrangements rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

There are also plants, decorative pieces and a particularly nice selection of candles, making it another useful stop when you’re looking for a gift rather than flowers alone.

But one of the things that makes a local florist somewhere you actually return to is the people, and the warm, friendly service here is part of the appeal.

BEST FOR: Personalised bouquets and flowers in the south.

And in Summer, Pick Your Own

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SUMMER TRADITIONS

This might actually be my favourite way to bring flowers home.

During the summer, flower meadows appear around Luxembourg where you’re explicitly allowed to cut your own flowers and create a bouquet to take home. I’ve visited fields around Bertrange and near Roeser, and I absolutely love them.

My boys like coming with me too, which turns picking up flowers for the house into a little summer outing rather than an errand.

The Bertrange flower meadows are particularly lovely. The commune plants large areas with seasonal flowers not only for people to enjoy, but also to create habitat for bees and other insects and support local biodiversity.

And yes, you’re genuinely allowed to pick them.

Depending on when you visit, you’ll find different flowers in bloom, so your bouquet will never look exactly the same twice. Bring your own scissors and something to carry your flowers home in. Then let everyone choose a few favourites.

You might not end up with the most perfectly coordinated florist bouquet. That’s kind of the point.

CSL TIP: Only pick from fields that are clearly marked as allowing it. Flower meadows change from year to year, and you shouldn’t assume that flowers growing in a field are free to take. Bertrange announces its official flower meadows seasonally, so check the commune’s website for the latest locations.

SUMMER IDEA: Make an afternoon of it with the kids. Pick flowers, bring them home and let everyone help arrange the bouquet.

What I Love to Pair With Flowers

You don’t need much to make fresh flowers look beautiful, but there are a few things that make having them around the house even better.

A beautiful vase I love something simple enough that it doesn’t compete with the flowers. Clear glass, ceramic and sculptural vases are always useful to have around.

A proper pair of flower scissors Particularly important if you’re heading to one of the pick-your-own fields.

A ceramic pitcher One of my favourite alternatives to a traditional vase, especially for looser market or wildflower arrangements.

A beautiful candle Flowers + candle. An extremely easy way to make the house feel considerably more put together than it actually is.

A coffee-table book If you’re bringing flowers as a gift, pairing them with a beautiful interiors, travel, fashion or photography book makes a lovely alternative to the usual bottle of wine.

Editor's Note

Flowers Don’t Need a Special Occasion. I think that’s ultimately why I love buying them.

They’re a small thing. But they make home feel nicer, and I think that’s reason enough.
